Where do the nylon Rattle Rings washers go when I install my Jowl split shackle?

We call these gap fillers. The Rattle Rings nylon washers are only needed if you have a gap to fill in the middle of the shackle between the hook and your mounting bracket. The nylon washers are not to be used on the outside of the shackle between the cap screw and the shackle hook.

Please note: It is important that the cap screws are threaded all the way down and tightened onto the pin so that the threads on the cap screw reach the tapered threads on the pin to lock the cap screw in place. Using a nylon washer that is too thick will not all these cap screw threads to reach or lock down properly. Be sure to use the proper size washer to only fill the gap and nothing more.

For the 3/4 inch Jowl shackle the space in between the shackle hooks is 1.25 inches. Most bumper shackle mounts are narrower than this so the rattle rings are used in the middle between the hook and the mounting brackt to fill those gaps to reduce noise and give your shackle a more secure fit. This also reduced pressure from the edges of your bumper mount onto the pin to increase the life of your shackles.

Most 2.0 inch shackle hitch receivers have a shackle mounting width of 1.25 specifically for a 3/4 shackle so the Rattle Rings nylon washers are not needed for mounting your Jowl Split Shackle if this is the case. If your shackle hitch recevier has a mounting width narrower than 1.25 then the Rattle Rings may be needed to reduce noise and give your split shackle a more stable fit.

What is the capacity of the Jowl Split Shackle?

Where do I find the Jowl Split Shackle color combos?

On each Jowl Split Shackle product page there is a dropdown or pull down menu right above the "Add to Cart" Button. So first navigate to the base color that you want. This can be either color in the combo that you are interested in. Then once you are on that single color page use the pull down menu to find the color combo you are looking for in the dropdown menu list.

All color combos are sold as two shackles or a pair of shackles and are discounted 10% compared to purchasing two shackles individually. If you want to purchase two fo the same color and get the discount we have those listed as color combos also. Example: Sublime Green and Sublime Green Combo.

Can I use one of the hooks separately from the other hook on the split shackle?

No. This is prohibited, is considered improper use and will void your warranty. Connections must be made capturing both hooks to make a proper acceptable connection.

Do you offer custom color options?

All our shackles products are offered in the "Raw Dog" uncoated color option that is CUSTOM COLOR ready for you to add primer and paint or powder coating so you can color match your vehicle or just add any finish of your choosing. You can also take it your local paint and powder shop so they can add a color of your choosing for you. Each Raw Dog uncoated shackle comes with preparation instructions. Only the Jowl hooked bodies should be powder coated, not the pin. Coating the pin will hinder the assembly functionality. (***Please note: this option will show signs of weathering and rust if left uncoated.)

Do I need to add thread locker or a locking compound to my Jowl Split Shackle cap screws and pin threads?

There is a small amount of thread locker already applied to the Jowl Split Shackle pin threads so adding additonal thread locker is only required if you would like a more permanent hold or if you have unmounted and mounted your shackle enough times that the thread locker is not functioning any longer. We recommend Permatex® Purple thread locker for an easily removable hold or Permatex® Orange thread locker for a medium removable hold.

If you are looking for a more permanent non-removable hold solution then use blue or red thread locker. (Please Note: You will need to heat blue or red thread locker to remove the cap screws from the pin and the heating process can damage the powder coating on the shackle or the coating on your bumper or shackle mount.)


Can I track my order?

Yes. We will provide updates at every stage of your order, from the moment you place it, through to despatch and delivery. In your delivery confirmation emails, you will receive a tracking reference which you can use to check the progress of your order online. If you have not received a shipping confirmation email please check your spam folder. These sometimes skip your inbox since we are considered a new sender. If you still can not find your shipping or tracking info you can reach out to us using our Contact Page and choose "Order Questions" in the Choose a Department drop down menu.

Also keep in mind, if you created an account during the check out process you will be able to log in to view your order history and check the status of any existing orders. Guests do not have the ability to log in to track their orders and will only be able to do so via the shipping confirmation email.

Where is my order confirmation?

Order confirmations are automatically sent to the email address your entered when you placed an order. If you haven’t received your order confirmation within 24 hours, please check your mailbox’s spam or junk folder before contacting us in case the order confirmation has skipped your inbox and is hiding in your spam folder. If its not there either, please send us a message using our contact page and we will be glad to resend it. 

Can I place an order without creating an account?

Yes. You can place an order as a guest with no obligation to create an account. We do recommend that you create an account, however, if you would like to check your order status, history or have your shopping cart items and payment details saved for next time. We ship to most regions worldwide. During the checkout process after you enter your shipping address our shipping calculator will display all available shipping services and costs as well as estimated transit times to your location. For all international orders please keep in mind that transit times may vary depending on customs congestion or delays entering your country.

I returned my order. Where is my refund?

We aim to process refunds within three days of an item being returned to us. Please note, however, that your bank may take several days to process the payment back into your account. Once your refund has been processed you will receive an email notification. With that said, please allow up to ten working days after sending the item back to us before getting in touch about your refund. You can do so using our Contact Page, by responding to your original order confirmation email or responding to your return requestion email correspondance.


Can I return or exchange an item?

We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return.

To be eligible for a return and refund, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You will also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

To start a return, you can contact us at Once your return is accepted you can ship your item back to us immediately. Customers are responsible for all return shipping costs on items in which you are requesting a refund. Once your item is received and inspected we will process your refund for the cost of the product you purchased only, not the original shipping cost (if shipping costs were applied to your order total at the time of purchase).

For accepted exchanges Moose Knuckle Offroad and Forward Notion, LLC offers a hybrid exchange policy on domestic orders only. This means that the customer/buyer is responsible for the inbound cost of the exchange item i.e. the customer/buyer will need to pay the postage cost to send the exchange item back to us and we offer free shipping of the new outbound item back to you.

Once your original item is received and inspected we will process your exchange. Exchanges can take up to 3 working days to process. To process exchanges as quickly as possible return items in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, in its original packaging and original shipping container.

What is the warranty on Moose Knuckle Offroad Products?

All Moose Knuckle Offroad products have a LIMITED WARRANTY.

1. Forward Notion, LLC makes every effort to assure that its products meet high quality and durability standards and warrants to the original retail consumer of our products (you) that each such product be free from defects in material and workmanship as follows:

ONE(1)YEAR limited warranty. This warranty does not apply to defects due, directly or indirectly, to misuse, abuse, negligence or accidents. We limit all implied warranties to the period specified above from the date our product was purchased at retail. We shall in no event be liable for death, injuries to persons or property or for incidental, contingent, special or consequential damages arising from the use of our products. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.

To take advantage of this warranty, the product must be returned for examination, postage prepaid, to Forward Notion, LLC. Proof of purchase and an explanation of the complaint must accompany the merchandise. If our inspection discloses a defect, we will replace the product, at our election or may elect to refund the purchase price if we cannot readily and quickly provide you with a replacement, if you are willing to accept such refund. We will return the replacement product at our expense, but if we determine there is no defect, or that the defect resulted from causes not within the scope of our warranty, then you must bear the cost of storing and returning this product. This warranty gives you legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
